Ben Duchac, Kickass Photo Guy

Via Daring Fireball, we are alerted to the existence of a photographer with a minimalistic style emphasizing strong lines, creative use of color (or lack thereof), and seemingly mundane subject matter, deftly transformed into the very opposite.

I can’t decide if what I’m feeling is closer to admiration or jealousy.

Call me dumb, but I have never understood what exactly a “second cousin” is, or been able to properly visualize a “third cousin twice removed” (or even a “first cousin once removed, for that matter).
No longer. This chart makes it all clear.

I learned a new word today

Via The Atlantic Wire:

Doxing is the “elaborate and often speculative process” of revealing a hacker’s true identity.

As is often the case with this sort of thing, Urban Dictionary adds valuable context:

Dox, or being doxed, in terms of online forum sites, is the physical equivalent of being butt-raped irl. Just as all the greats have, when a person is “doxed”, all their personal information is made available for all users to see. Names, addresses, phone numbers and school/work are not spared, and this usually leads to the person ceasing all ties with said websites, if not the interwebs as a whole.**Nao Commencing Dox Dump**

President Obama didn’t create today’s budget problem. Bush did.

Now the only problem is trying to find an American right-winger who’s capable of changing his or her opinion when presented with facts.

The Basics

Hi, I'm Paul. Sometimes I post things here.

Most of it probably won't be world-changing, but it should be at least mildly interesting.

To me, at least.
